We are looking for a qualified Technician to join and supplement our existing team, responsible for carrying out the initial “triage” diagnostic routines, liaising directly with customers, understanding their concerns regarding their vehicle, performing road-tests in order to specifically identify the initial reason for bookings and trying to replicate faults as described by the customer. You will be expected to carry out smaller repairs in order to get the customer on their way in the most efficient, customer friendly way. You will be the primary mechanical conduit working between our front counter team and workshop control in a professional and safe manner as assigned and in accordance with dealer and factory standards.
To rise to the challenge, you’ll also need to be fully skilled, with main dealer experience an advantage but not essential, with technical ability & a positive approach to your work and willing to drop what you may be doing to address customer concerns at a moment’s notice. You will have a understanding of each manufacturer customer satisfaction indices (or willing to learn them) so as to help increase and maintain our scoring by the manufacturer.
Please note previous and current Automotive Technician experience is required for this position.
What will I do on a daily basis?
- Inspect customers’ vehicles, prior to entering the workshop
- Facilitate road tests to identify specific customer concerns
- Undertake initial diagnosis of repair requirements to vehicles
- Carry out vehicle maintenance and repair
- Procure and fit parts required to complete the work instructions as per company policy.
- Ensure a final inspection of all work is implemented and when requested, fully test if safety related or a customer concern.
- Record accurate details of work done on Repair Order and other information required by policy and statutory procedure.
- Participate in on-going training and development to ensure product and service knowledge is up to date.
- Mentor and provide guidance to apprentice technicians, where applicable.
Required skills and experience
You will be a Level 3 qualified vehicle technician with a full UK driving licence, ideally with manufacturer experience. In addition to your prior experience, you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
- Excellent and efficient problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
- A strong customer service focus with the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience
- Extremely well presented, as a shirt and (clip on) tie may be required
- Outstanding organisation and time management skills with the ability to work to deadlines

Salary: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
