Recruit Central are recruiting for a Engine Test Facilities Engineer based with their GED Test engineering team to support facility led activities, within their Stafford site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:(not limited to)
- Accountable for the delivery of calibration and maintenance tasks associated with an engine test cell, while adhering to safety standards and best working practices.
- Support and lead project management activities, purchasing, installation and commissioning of test cell equipment in readiness for engine test projects
- Diagnose electrical/mechanical malfunctions in test cell facility or diesel engine components; assess nature of problem and determine corrective action
- Compliance with EHS tasks, ensuring adherence with health, safety & environmental standards across site
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Qualifications/Skills
- City Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in an automotive/electrical subject
- Equivalent qualifications accepted (IMechE accreditation) or higher (HNC/HND/B.Eng.)
- Time served facilities / technicians considered
- Knowledgeable in the service and calibration of test bed measurement equipment. Ability to identify performance trends and fault diagnosis with test bed equipment
- Ability to lead team members through new measurement equipment application and operation
- A demonstrated knowledge of diesel and gas engine combustion systems
- Industrial and Electrical Maintenance
Experience
- Experience with both AC and DC voltage systems up to 480v
- Strong understanding of the electrical and mechanical requirements of a working engine test facility.
- Instrumentation/calibration experience within an engine test facility including thermocouples, pressure transducers, flowmeters, emissions analysers, etc
- A working knowledge of engine data acquisition systems and troubleshooting
- Modification of engine electrical harnesses for a test cell environment
- Mechanical/electrical experience on diesel engines, stripping & rebuilding engines, along with a good automotive or off-highway mechanical background.
- A good knowledge of 18th Edition Electrical Safety and Competency desirable
Working hours: Monday to Thursday 6:45am until 4:30pm (37 hours a week)
Salary: £40,000-£44,252 (negotiable depending on experience)
